Review: Steven Universe “Mr. Greg”
This is a very formal review.
Spoilers Below
At the end of the last episode, Steven’s dad received a check for ten million dollars. Now they had to decide what to do with the money. Since this is a musical episode, Steven and Greg sing a song about the things they can do. Steven suggests buying a house or a car but Greg just wants to spend time with him. Greg suggests sending Steven to college but Steven points out that he spends all his time with the Gems. When Steven suggests a vacation, Greg lights up. He’ll take Steven to Empire City! Steven insists on bringing Pearl.
Once they reach Empire City, Greg throws his money around lavishly. He gets a huge room in a swanky hotel. All three of them get custom fitted tuxedos. They eat the best food money can buy. But when Greg tries to dance with Pearl, she pulls away. When she thinks Steven and Greg are asleep, she sings a song about her difficult relationship with Greg and how she misses Rose Quartz. Surprisingly, neither Greg nor Steven were asleep. They heard her entire sad song. Pearl wishes she never came on the trip but Steven points out that this is the entire reason he wanted her to come.
Steven sings a song to Greg and Pearl about how they should get along because they are the similar. As they realize they both feel the same about Rose Quartz, they start to dance together. While this isn’t an epic love, it is the beginning of a friendship. The song ends and Greg gets the bill for their night in Empire City. Of course, it was super expensive. They may not have any money again but they do have each other. And that is all they need.
I didn’t realize that this was going to be a musical episode. Musical episodes are either really good or really bad. Thankfully, this one is really good. I loved each and every song. (Please tell me there will be an album!) The best part, however, is that this wasn’t some standalone episode that has nothing to do with the rest of the show. This episode moved the plot of the show along just like every other episode. Now I kinda want every episode to be a musical episode.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
