Comics Review: Rick and Morty #11
Spoilers Below
Rick wants to make Morty into a man, so he takes him to a planet that features a virtual reality game that puts together tests of merit for Morty to pass to prove that he’s not just a wimpy sidekick. Picking up girls, fights to the death, and more are all on the table, and after Morty wins he makes his Grampa promise never to put him through that again.
Meanwhile, Summer and Jerry sneak onto Rick’s ship and press buttons causing them to switch heads. Over the course of some elapsed time that isn’t exactly clear, the two see what it’s like to live in each other’s shoes. When Rick returns to the ship, he’s able to switch the two back at the press of the button, but what damage has been done already?
Our Take
Pretty fun issue, even if the plot holes are somewhat apparent i.e. Summer and Jerry somehow zapping back to Rick’s ship in like a second. The real laughs came in Morty’s trials with great stuff happening when he tries to pick up a lady on the job or when he’s gotta beat the shit out of monsters while asleep. Kind of surprised we only got one strip this time around, but Rick seemed more Rick than in previous issues of the comic, so let’s chalk this one up to progress.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
