Spoilers Below

The gang’s TV breaks, so they each try to earn money to replace it: Pig gets a job at Sky Burger as a new delivery guy. The gig isn’t all that bad, it just involves Pig jumping out of a space ship each time he wants to make a delivery. His next delivery is to the president of the planet and now he’s gotta go through a Veggie Tale inspired land to complete the job. Burgers aren’t aloud here, but the local citizens can’t help but love the burgers. Unfortunately, the Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away, and some of the other citizens get pissed and go after Pig and an escaping chef Joe…Jeff…whatever. Pig swears to his dying chef that the President is going to get his burger no matter what and he does exactly that.

Goat competes in a talent show called Look What I Can Do, but the talent scout puts her in Gauntlet of Humiliation with the top prize being a new TV. She gets eaten, but the show’s host likes her. Meanwhile, Banana creates a fragrance out of a bunch of stuff including Pig’s farts and Sky Burgers. It gains the attraction to this Woman of the Woods to whom take s a liking to Banana who doesn’t seem to mind because at least he gets to watch TV now. It isn’t long before it gets weird with Banana having to eat skunks and rubbing feet. Banana escapes before he gets married.

Cricket devises a total immersion television where he is able to do the ‘Mike TV’ thing from Willy Wonka and be on TV via a remote. Banana shows up and helps send the crazy lady to space, but he ends up being the first one who tests the TV’s remote control features. Cricket ends up on Gauntlet of Humiliation with Goat, and soon both Banana and Pig show up for the big final round of all, that features the biggest TV of all. The one who gets across the hot lake of cheese first is the winner, but really the obstacle course is a huge pizza ran by a huge alien. The alien strikes, and  thanks to Banana’s spray the crazy woman of the woods returns with a rocket that destroys the monster. The guys get a new TV.

Our Take

The concept of having to buy a new TV and cartoons seems to go back as far as the stone age…literally I think Ren & Stimpy did it. Since then, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Regular Show, Rick and Morty, and a slew of other animated TV shows have done the same concept. Hell, Beavis and Butthead: Do America’s premise revolved around this very same notion.

And while Pig Goat Banana Cricket doesn’t reinvent a BUNCH in delivering the end result (at the end of the day everyone’s either building something or getting a job to save up), there were still a lot of fun scenes that shouldn’t be ignored. Banana’s fart potion was pretty good, and Sky Burger deliveries should be a real thing. But, if you wanted to boil this episode to its core, you’d find the similar plot points that you’ve seen elsewhere.
