Review: Kirby Buckets “Failure to Launch”
Spoilers Below
Kirby’s getting ready to launch a new channel of his own creations, and Fish comes on as his manager with everyone talking about the new launch. His parents are excited, the school knows about it, just Dawn wants nothing to do with it. She eventually comes across Kirby’s tablet with threats that she’s gonna mess with his shit.
Kirby finds out and Dawn holds him hostage by his balls in terms of taking his site and uploading a bunch of home videos including ones featuring Kirby playing with dolls. Kirby opts for a secret weapon i.e. a flash drive he left at the store featuring an embarrassing Dawn video. After eating a bunch of pickled eggs looking for it, the manager hands over the drive, and we’ve got our Mexican standoff. Dad comes home from work to act as a mediator in deleting Dawn’s video in exchange for changing Kirby’s password. Instead, Dad deletes all of Kirby’s videos and uploads Dawn’s waiting for the public to see.
The two decide to go to the local cloud services provider to get the last remnants of their work, for Dawn it’s keeping a secret, for Kirby it’s about uploading before his big launch party gets underway with school bloggers in his audience. The Buckets are able to get into the facility and Kirby gets his stuff back, but Dawn leaves her’s behind. The launch party is a success, but Dawn has a new mission…destroy the “Claude”.
Our Take
I’m very impressed with the level of detail the producers of Kirby Buckets used in building the “Claude” facility. They may or may not know, but that’s actually rather accurate in terms of how some cloud farms look. Really, some of them appear to be abandoned warehouses, but when you go inside you’ll see server farms all over the place.
In any case, Kirby’s second season kicks off with my favorite concept, and one that I hope sticks…Kirby wanting to be a cartoonist. These episodes are always the strongest, and that’s certainly indicative with the season two premiere. Moreover, a lot of the show’s characters returned with a bunch of hilarious scenes. Dad is pretty awesome, and Belinda’s constant cry for attention was well played. Hell, even Fish might be growing on me as his character grows a bit more consistent.
The grossest scene in the history of the show was probably the over consumption of the picked eggs, so the boys should be proud. All the boys…(and you too girls).
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
