Spoilers Below

After the Cosmic Seed caused Knowhere to be briefly awakened and Groot to be overpowered by it’s energies and turned into a huge monster, Korath the Pursuer snatches Star-Lord and Gamora in order to force Star-Lord to open the box for him by using a parasite that makes Gamora relive her sins. Drax, Groot, and Rocket show up for the save with Drax cutting a promo on Korath to next time have Thanos show up and do shit himself.

Following the rescue of Star-Lord and Gamora, Thanos  leads his fleet into attacking Knowhere in order to claim the Star Seed’s box just as Quill is about to sell it for a cool 500 units. As Star-Lord uses the Continuum Cortex in Knowhere to fight Thanos’ fleet, Groot helps Drax the Destroyer fight Thanos by saving his ass just as Thanos is about to stomp out Drax for good.

Eventually, Cosmo uses Knowhere’s technology to transport the Guardians of the Galaxy and Knowhere to a distant galaxy. After leaving Knowhere, Star-Lord discovers that the Star Seed’s box is a map to the Star Seed.

Our Take

Now THIS is the show I thought we were going to see. As bad as the sneak peek episode was for Guardians of the Galaxy, the second episode was just oh, so much better. Much-improved story-telling, not as reliant (but definitely some sprinkles) as the premiere episode when it came to ripping off the dialogue of the movies, a fantastically produced scene featuring Knowhere blasting Thanos’ army to kingdom come. Some of the hokey dialogue is lame, and I hope Thanos’ true power is showcased as the show goes on because he’s much more than a guy whom took over Ronan’s army featuring Korath and whatnot. Cosmic Dog continues to be the best new addition, while Yondu seems to be just making annoying cameos.

In any case, if Guardians of the Galaxy can continue to make decent gains in quality over the next mess of episodes, we could have a solid show. I think it’s still trying to find itself all the while separating itself from the feature film, but this week’s episode showed that the producers are trying to move in the right direction.
