Review: Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors ”The Spider-Verse: Part Three”
Spoilers Below
Spider-Man ends up in old-school York where the Alchemist is your local villain and The Goblin is still looking for this era’s Spidey.
Spider-Man gets captured by the local town and is threatened with being a witch and JUST as he’s about to be burned, Spider-Knight shows up to save the day. The Goblin shows up and he’s able to get Spidey Knight’s blood rather quickly and he heads off to another portal. Unfortunately, Spider-Man can’t leave until he helps Knight fight off the Kraken. They do just that and find out the Kraken is actually this era’s Doc Ock. After the battle, Spidey heads back by way of Merlin’s portal.
Next up, Spidey ends up in a universe where Peter Parker is dead and Miles Morales is the new Spider-Man. While here, we actually run into TWO Goblins, and both want to kill each other almost as much as they want to kill Spider-Man. Eventually, The Goblin gets Morales’ blood and he heads off leaving this universe’s Goblin to kick the ever-loving shit out of both Spider-Men. Eventually, the guys work together and win, but now Peter Parker has to leave and catch up with his Goblin for the finale.
Our Take
The first-half of the episode sucked because it featured by far the worst character design in the show besides the Goblin…the one for Doc Ock. Seriously, he looks like a bug, and the fight against him was rather lame. The Kraken actually looked VERY inspired by War of the Worlds, but with a battle that wasn’t nearly as exciting.
The second part was a whole lot better because the Miles Morales-world of Spider-Man already has crazy as hell designs for their characters, so this one for The Goblin doesn’t bother me as much. Moreover, we had quite possibly the best battles of the mini-series thus far featuring the likes of both Goblins going at it, and both Miles and Peter getting absolutely destroyed by the Goblins in battle in a most vicious way that I hadn’t seen before. The last part probably saves this episode.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
