Reddit AMA Recap: Chris Parnell talks Archer and Rick and Morty

Last week, Chris Parnell of Rick and Morty (Jerry) and Archer (Cyril) fame stopped by Reddit to do an AMA session, and this time around the questions seemed to be more Archer heavy than Rick and Morty heavy. In any case, the highlights were a plenty and you can see them below:

On whether Chris would play the role of ”Cyril” in a live-action film of Archer:

And sure, of course! I would be happy to play Cyril. And I think the answer most people give for Archer is a pretty good one, which is Jon Hamm. He, I think, would be pretty good in that role. But it also might work with Michael Fassbender.

On who is most like their Archer counterpart

Let’s see… the characters are all so crazy… it’s hard to make that connection. Well, Jon can sometimes be a bit of a dick in answering questions at Comic-Con and things like that, so maybe in that small little way, he’s the most like Archer – but he’s a lot funner to me than Archer is. But Jon has that little part of him, I think.

On the possibility of more Archer live tour dates?

And in terms of ARCHER LIVE, I just recently got word that there are possibly going to be 2 shows on the East Coast coming up in the next 4,5,6 months, but that’s as much as I know at this point. But I hope they happen, because I love doing the show and getting to spend time with the rest of the cast.

On what is Cyril’s best and worst quality.

Cyril’s best quality… you know, I don’t know if it’s a quality, but his ability with logic and numbers, I think, is notable.

And because Cyril has an inner rage, inner fury, that is able to express itself when he has an automatic weapon in his hands.

On what would be Cyril’s perfect vengeance against Sterling Archer.

Oh, I think it would be to get Lana back, and maybe marry Lana, and maybe see Archer in jail, or something, in prison somewhere?

 

On how recording happens.

We do not record together. We all do it separately, from whatever city we’re in. But I’m on the phone line with some of the guys back in Atlanta, who make the show, reading it with them, and taking their direction over the phone line, but it’s fun. Usually pretty quick. And unfortunately we don’t get to see each other, but we do get to see each other when we do functions, and Comic-Con, and Archer Live, and things like that.

On his favorite episode.

But my favorite ARCHER episode is probably the one where I impersonated a -gosh, I don’t know what country it was – maybe a Columbian leader? It was one of the first ones I was an agent in the field, and i pulled it off pretty well.
