Review: Stone Quackers ”Stone Quackers I”
Spoilers Below
Whit and Clay head over to a girl’s party, but end up running into a guy named Jimmy whom the boys seem to have a rather unfavorable past with. Jimmy ends up breaking Clay’s board, but instead of causing a scene, the two opt to go home. On the way, they run into another dude named Josh whom seems to have a beef with Jimmy, and decides to go after him to settle an old school. Despite their disagreements from earlier, Clay doesn’t like the idea that he pretty much got another guy killed, so he and Whit head into the woods to try and save him. Because of this kind-hearted act, Josh threatens to spit on Whit and Clay, but Barf shows up completely engulfed in flames to save not only Whit and Clay from impending disaster, but Jimmy too.
Ok, so this week’s episode shows that there was definitely, at one point, some sort of distance between Barf and Whit/Clay. In episodes prior we always saw the trio together no questions asked, but we learn this week that Barf is usually a loner whilst the other guys are off taking part in adventures. This was also the first episode where we got to see a seed planted indicating that something is going on between Officer Barry and Dottie despite the fact that Barry has an insane wife and kids at home while Dottie lives with her cat ‘Gothfield’. I also particularly enjoyed both Josh and Jimmy, as both could act as serviceable antagonists for future episodes, and I wouldn’t mind digging into why Jimmy and Clay don’t get along as it looks like they have some history there. I quite didn’t understand some of the disjointed portions of the episode. For example, other than for gag reasons, was there really any point to seeing Barf drive a tractor into the canal? It was funny, yes, but it looked like initially the boys were going to get in trouble by Barry whom had just warned them of causing mischief around town. Instead, the episode kind of turned a hard left and we ended up with something else entirely. Not a bad thing, but if we had more time with Whit and Clay’s piece, maybe we could have learned more about Jimmy and Josh. Instead, it’s an unresolved point that leaves us with questions at this juncture.
In any case, the episode definitely sets the table for the series by filling in some holes left behind prior episodes, and further adds new ones that should keep fans excited for quite a while.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
