Comic Review: Bravest Warriors #27
When we left our Warriors, they had just been given a set of giant robots. Even Chris was stunned by the sheer awesomeness of the robots. But will they get to pilot them?
Peach, the Virian scientist that created the giant robots, gives the Warriors a quick tutorial on how to use them. They basically respond to their kinetic and emotional energy. So if they punch, the robots will punch. If they get emotionally stressed, the robots will throw up a shield in order to protect them.
Before the Warriors can even get a handle on their robots, huge sea monsters break through the wall. Of course, the Warriors jump into action. However, they end up accidentally attacking each other instead of attacking the monsters. Peach gives Wallow and Danny a few orders and the pair easily defeat the sea monsters.
The Warriors and Peach only get a few moments to celebrate before the next wave of monsters flies in. Unfortunately, these monsters are the ones that show up before the BIG monster. This is when Peach reveals phase two. The robots join up to form one huge robot. Shame on you if you didn’t see this coming. However, the story ends before we can see it happen.
“Praying Mantis Prom” is the side story in this issue. The Warriors have signed Wallow up for the Praying Mantis Prom on Praying Mantis Planet. Apparently, the queen needed a date for her daughter and the gang thought Wallow would be the best option. If only they had asked him first.
Despite knowing that praying mantis eat their mates, Wallow begrudgingly agrees to go to the prom. This makes Pixel, the AI in Wallow’s glove, very jealous. When Wallow begins to fall in love with the beautiful mantis princess, it is Pixel that saves his life. As Wallow leans in to kiss the princess, Pixel punches her in the face. Wallow, noticing that Pixel has always been there for him, repays Pixel’s dedication with a slow dance.
This is another issue that seemed super short. While we did get to see the robots fight a bit in the main story, the fight wasn’t all that long. We didn’t even get to see Plum’s robot. Yes, Peach did say that Plum had a robot too. I would have liked the fight to be a little bit longer before they suddenly Voltron the robots. The side story also felt really short. I suppose it was interesting to see the relationship between Wallow and Pixel but the actual story seemed forced. This entire issue basically felt like a huge filler episode. Unimpressed.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
