5 Reasons Why Brickleberry’s “Trailer Park” needs to be its own show…but right now??

We go into a litany of reasons why doing a spin-off of the popular Comedy Central animated series makes sense…but not yet.

If you haven’t seen the latest episode of Brickleberry, check out our recap here and/or episode highlights here on Comedy Central. However, if you are waiting to watch it be careful because SPOILERS BELOW!

So, after watching the most recent episode of Brickleberry one could certainly imagine the episode entitled ‘Trailer Park’ as its own spin-off series. Here are 5 Reasons why I think Trailer Park should definitely be given consideration in being a spin-off series on Comedy Central.

1) Characters: Bobby Possumcods (played by Waco O’ Guin) is already one of the grossest characters on Brickleberry and that’s saying something! Of all the characters the producers of Damn Show could’ve used for the series (and yes a lot of us are STILL waiting for Drunken the Koala), Waco O’ Guin and Roger Black have done a GREAT job integrating the one-time live action character in Bobby and having him fit within the Brickleberry cast almost effortlessly. Bobby stormed on the scene of Brickleberry season one when  (without shame) he kidnapped Malloy and anally raped the little bastard in his trailer.

In the ‘Trailer Park’ episode, we are introduced to Bobby’s sidekick BoDean (voiced by Roger Black) and boy was HE funny. Just when you thought you couldn’t find a character more mentally-challenged than Steve, the producers of Brickleberry come up with THIS cross-eyed probably smelly character. Along with BoDean, the ‘Trailer Park’ had a rather awesome collage of ancillary characters like a fat lady with a hook and a whole bunch more all of which I think could make for an ideal and rather hilarious cast.

2) Plots: Trailer Park looks RIPE for a bunch of funny ideas. Anyone who has seen Ax Men or any number of these shows on TV like Duck Dynasty KNOWS there are just Southern trends and customs that us in the NYC/Metro area may never understand. This is rather similar in the ‘Trailer Park’ episode and as such I think could make for a bunch of episodes all with endearing ideas like bestiality, Southern…um…cuisine, and yes the all important NASCAR jokes. Bounty Hunters tried this, but CMT never should have had an animated series so the show failed. I think Comedy Central could do a MUCH better job at pointing this satire of Southern and/or Trailer Park living at a different audience and get some of those numbers that the aforementioned shows count.

3) Setting: Come on, IT’S A TRAILER PARK! What I like about the idea of a Trailer Park series is that the setting is so confined that it would almost be the opposite of Brickleberry in that instead of a wide-open forest with geysers, trees, and cabins in the woods, you get a confined living quarters akin to almost a Friends, but with a Southern/Trailer Park flair. Anyone who has seen the show Crash Canyon knows what I’m talking about because in that series the characters were confined to a small hole at the bottom of a mountain with no escape. The ‘Trailer Park’ characters have all the notion in the world to move where ever they want to, but instead like to stick together and feed/help one another. Also, the setting could be awesome for a bunch of random characters just passing on through and could help spice up the plots/interaction with the characters.

4) Something ELSE to watch: There are never enough animated shows on TV at any given time, so why not add one more? Fans of Breaking Bad looking for meth-lab humor? CHECK! Fans of the crass, but hysterical humor of the Damn Show guys want MORE show? CHECK! Leave open the possibility of cross over episodes between TWO franchises that could BOTH be on Comedy Central? CHECK and CHECK! ‘Trailer Park’ would give us one more show to watch in let’s say the Summer so that we won’t have to be relegated to watching baseball (and let’s face it, I’m a METS fan, so that’s painful either way). Futurama is no longer on Comedy Central over the course of the Summer months which means it’s open season for animated shows come January thru August.

5) Because it would be FUNNY: Maybe the most IMPORTANT reason if you ask me and the one that is maybe most important is that ‘Trailer Park’ is a funny concept just in it’s OWN right. The jokes basically write themselves with this idea, and with Waco O’Guin and Roger Black’s style of humor writing integrated, it’s VERY possible that ‘Trailer Park’ could be a spin-off franchise of a much BIGGER Brickleberry picture.

The BIG thing to remember here is timing. The Cleveland Show happened AFTER Family Guy got super-duper popular and even then the show lasted only four seasons. ‘Trailer Park’ COULD do the same, but given that Comedy Central is likely to be renewing Brickleberry for a third season, it looks like the network is in it for the long haul in terms of this series finding its OWN audience. So far, so good because the numbers have looked good and the show looks to have a bright future if coddled nicely and could do wonders for Daniel Tosh’s career if he ever gets bored of doing Tosh.0 (unlikely). With this in mind, it could be some time until we see a full season of ‘Trailer Park’ but in any case the prospect of one is just too exciting to pass up.

Until that happens, Brickleberry returns next Tuesday Night @ 10:30 pm EST with an all new episode. However, voice your comments below on whether or not you would like to see a ‘Trailer Park’ spin-off series.
