Review: Red vs Blue Season 11 Episode 5

Spoilers Below

Before we get started, I’d like to reach out to the readers and let you all know we’ve recently filed a missing persons report. Sanity Not Included, a four-year-old show, has been missing for over two weeks now. Its last known whereabouts were YouTube on July 1, but it hasn’t been heard from since. It’s not like them not to leave a message. Recently, SNI was growing increasingly sluggish and unfunny, so needless to say, we are all vaguely worried. If you have any information, please contact me, @Gonzo_Green. Thank you.

And now, a review of a totally different show! In Red vs. Blue episode 5, Wash and Tucker were working on the communications dish, when Tucker mentioned that it was odd they haven’t been rescued yet, given the ship’s Galaxy Positioning System (GPS). The two also discussed the possibility that they are being watched. Tucker mentioned that it’s normal to think that, and that he used to feel the same way too. Agent Washington then pointed out that the Reds & Blues were in fact previously being watched, as Blood Gulch was secretly a training and testing ground for Project Freelancer.

Caboose’s story line is still ambiguous, brief, and interesting. This time he was trying to get an unseen and unknown item loose from somewhere, and reassured whatever-it-was that they were going to be best friends.

Over at the Red Base, Grif and Simmons debated the likelihood of a robot takeover of the universe, given the endless examples in popular entertainment. Sarge then finished the newest robot, only to discover, like Lopez, he also speaks Spanish. Also like Lopez, his helpfulness and intelligence gets trapped behind the language barrier, instead coming off lazy and dumb.

This wasn’t the funniest Red vs. Blue this season, by far, but there were enough jokes and pop culture references to keep it amusing. Clearly they are leading up to some major plotline involving Caboose, and I’m definitely interested enough to look forward to the next episode.

Especially since there’s apparently no Sanity Not Included.
