English Dub Review: Black Clover “The Door to Hell”

The second episode of Black Clover Season 2, titled The Door to Hell, continues the Spade Kingdom Raid as the Magic Knights launch their attacks against the Dark Triad. With Yami and William Vangeance being used as sacrifices for the Qliphoth Advent Ritual, the situation becomes increasingly desperate. The episode features several exciting confrontations while introducing a new threat that could change the course of the battle.

The Magic Knights split into different groups to take on the Dark Triad. Yuno, accompanied by Langris, confronts Zenon Zogratis, determined to defeat the man responsible for the Golden Dawn’s massacre and rescue Captain Vangeance. Their battle gives us a glimpse of Yuno’s improved abilities, as he makes use of his newly acquired Spirit of Boreas form. Meanwhile, Charlotte and Rill face Vanica, who is hosting the devil Megicula. Charlotte’s improved Briar Magic makes their confrontation particularly interesting.

Elsewhere, Jack the Ripper and Nacht take on Dante Zogratis. Although Dante has recovered from his previous injuries, Jack’s unusual cutting abilities and Nacht’s Devil Union make for an entertaining battle. We also get to see Mereoleona fighting an enormous demon summoned through Morris’s actions. Her incredible strength and determination make this one of the episode’s most enjoyable sequences.

However, the biggest development comes towards the end. Despite the Magic Knights’ efforts, the first gate of the underworld opens, allowing two Supreme Devils, Lilith and Naamah, to enter the living world. Their presence makes it clear that the situation is far worse than the Magic Knights anticipated. Nacht realises the danger they pose and prepares to confront them.

Overall, The Door to Hell is an engaging instalment that does a good job of building tension while giving characters their moments to shine. The different battles keep things interesting, but the arrival of the two Supreme Devils is easily the biggest highlight. It also leaves viewers eager to discover how the Magic Knights will deal with this new threat.
