Overview:
Kimihiko and his friends are kidnapped as they go to visit Siesta’s grave.
Our Take(Spoilers):
Trust me you’ll be forgiven for not remembering what happened in the first season of this show. They even gave a bit of a recap on what happened previously and I was still lost. I remember who the characters are for the most part but there were a couple of things that were a bit jarring as well. Nagisa’s voice for example seemed to change from the beginning of the episode to the end and no I’m not talking about the fact that she got her body taken over by someone else. When I check the voice actress for the character it’s the same as season one though.
Reviewing this season of The Detective Is Already Dead takes me back. This show was one of the first reviews I ever did for this site and I’d like to think I’ve come a long way since then. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about this because it still seems to be stuck. I remember giving the first ever episode a very high rating because it was some of the best animation I’ve ever seen. That must have been all of their budget because it hasn’t looked that good since. Not only that but it took them five years to get another season when I don’t think the source material was that far behind at all.
Nagisa apparently has Hel inside her and if I recall correctly she was the villain of the first season. The episode also opened with what seemed like Nagisa as a child with Siesta as a kid. They were experimented on and weren’t given names just numbers. In fact, it looks like Siesta gave Nagisa her name but all of this was news to me because it seemed like Siesta was older than everyone.
This revelation was treated with little fanfare but I expect it to be addressed in later episodes. Siesta is also sort of back to the living but instead there is an android that looks and sounds exactly like her named Noches.
The best thing I can say about this episode was that Austin Tindle is back as the voice of Kimihiko and since I haven’t heard him in much lately that was nice. My hopes aren’t too high for this show moving forward though.
