English Dub Review: Mushoku Tensei “Resolve”

Overview:

After reading a possible future, Rudeus takes action to avoid it and protect the people he loves.

Our Take(Spoilers):

This will be the last episode of the cour until sometime next year. As of now, we don’t have an exact premiere date, but it will be sometime in 2027. I think this will be a hard wait for me because we’re getting into the most anticipated part of the anime for me. I’ve made no secret of Eris being my favorite character, and while I’m sad we didn’t get to see much of her in this part, I am glad that the last scene we got was with her, even if she did act a little extra.

She got the letter that Rudeus wrote her, and instead of opening it like a normal person, she threw it in the air and used her sword to cut it out of the envelope. I thought she was destroying the letter because she wanted to hear anything he had to say in person. But I liked how Rudeus was honest in his letter and essentially said: “Hey, I have two wives already, so if you’re cool being the third, then let’s go; if not, then hopefully we can be friends. Oh, and I’m going to fight Orsted to the death, by the way, so if you want to get in on that, lemme know.” One of the women around Eris didn’t appreciate this, but Nina appreciated his candor and honesty. Either way, Eris took off with a smile on her face.

I know that time travel plots can get confusing, but I don’t see why Rudeus couldn’t tell Sylphie and Roxy the full truth. He made up a story about a blessed child being able to see the future, so there were some things he would need to do. Bringing Eris into the family was one of those things, I guess. There are parts that I’m hazy on from when I read the novels, and I remember this part making a bit more sense.

I’m sad that we’re already on a break for the second cour especially with how strong these last few episodes have been. I suppose that makes sense; they want to leave us wanting more, but I wish that it was one of those shows that immediately went into its second cour. Let’s hope that we don’t have to wait too long.
