Review: Grimsburg “Stanbiscuit”
Overview
Flute intervenes when Stan receives an alarming superlative; Wynona undergoes a brain procedure to improve her dating life outside of work.
Our Take
Stanbiscuit refers to the fact that Stan has taken on a new competitive…I guess you could call it a sport…activity where he rides fake horses through obstacle courses. Marvin gets a minority report (yes, like from the Tom Cruise movie) that if he doesn’t start attending Stan’s sporting events then Stan may go nuts and try to take the detective down. This inspires Marvin to take on the atypical taking it too seriously Dad doing everything he can, yes even performance-enhancing substances, to make sure his son wins a competition.
Wynona and Greg’s bit was slightly more appealing, but just as cliche as we get more or less a Fight Club/50 First Dates/Me, Myself, and Irene derivative, where Summers starts spending more time with the multiple personalities that are derived from Wynona’s brain procedure.
Overall, another not very good week for Grimsburg. Just everything is so friggin’ unoriginal, in fact I think Bob’s Burgers did a whole bit about Tina’s toy horse and we’re just throwing up paradoxical plot points from established movies and TV shows and not even trying to hide it anymore mixed in with just unfunny dialogue. I’m hoping the show will snap out of it at some point this season.
