Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, Ascendance of a Bookworm introduces Georgine as a particularly intriguing new presence. Her calm demeanor and mysterious intentions immediately make her someone to keep an eye on, while the episode continues to show just how complicated noble society can be. Wilfried also proves once again that he desperately needs to learn when to speak and, more importantly, when not to.
The rest of the proceedings also delivers plenty of great comedic moments, especially with Rozemyne and Ferdinand. Their interactions remain one of the highlights, with Ferdinand’s painfully fake smiles contrasting perfectly with the moments when he’s clearly enjoying himself. The paper fan scenes were hilarious as well, particularly when Rozemyne finally gets to put her new weapon to use.
Overall, this was a solid episode that balances political tension with some much-needed comedy. Georgine’s introduction adds another interesting personality to the cast without revealing too much about her, while Rozemyne’s antics with Ferdinand and Wilfried keep things entertaining. It’s a simple but effective episode that leaves plenty of questions hanging in the air.
