English Dub Review: The Drops of God “Beautiful Silver Goddess”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Tomine and Shizuku climb the Matterhorn in search of the Fifth Apostle.

Our Take:
The Apostle competition gets back into full swing, as Tomine and Shizuku experience a new change in scenery, and with good reason.  The clue involving the Fifth Apostle relates to a mountain that is equal parts peaceful and dangerous, leading them to identify the answer as the Matterhorn in the Alps.  The rivals then travel to Switzerland in hopes of reaching the mountain, with Tomine solving his lost memories involving his mother.  However, Shizuku may end up having a tough time with his own pursuit, notably through his encounter with the guide, Andrew Stalden, and his expertise on how deadly the Matterhorn is.  Because of this, Shizuku and his new ally, a stewardess named Yamashita, would have to take the safer, yet longer, path up the mountain, which may be a risk of its own, given Shizuku’s determination to beat Tomine.
Unsurprisingly, Andrew’s attitude can be pretty uptight at first.  However, near the episode’s end, it’s revealed that Andrew shares a bit of history with the young Yutaka when he sees Shizuku’s determination to find the Apostle.  If I guessed correctly, then it looks like Andrew and Shizuku would become good friends over their common interest in Yutaka, assuming they make it through the dangerous climb alive.  With this change in location, “Beautiful Silver Goddess” turns up the risk factor a notch, with Shizuku and Tomine pushing their physical and mental capabilities to the limit through their climb on the Matterhorn.  With this in mind, this challenge isn’t just about testing their tastes and knowledge of wine, but also testing how far they’re willing to go to find the answer they seek.
