English Dub Review: The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen “The Cruel Princess and the Request”
Overview:
The Kingdom of Copelandii will invade sooner than expected.
Our Take(Spoilers):
One problem other shows like this can run into is becoming predictable. The main character knows everything that’s going to happen, so we aren’t exactly worried about them. That is, unless events unfold in a way Pride is unaware of. So far, the events are the same, but their timeline is completely different. She thought she would have more time to build the alliance with Cedric, but that wasn’t meant to be.
Not only that, but it seems that Cedric’s brother might be instigating this battle. A distraught Cedric attempted to flee back home in order to try and fix things. Pride stopped him before he could leave because she had some idea of what was happening, even if the timeline didn’t match up.
What makes this exciting is that it means more than just the time in which things happen could be changing. It will be fun to see Pride have to pivot around things that haven’t happened in her experience with the game.
Stale, meanwhile, seems to have some issues he doesn’t want to deal with. Perhaps that’s not the best way to phrase it. He refuses to forgive Cedric or anyone who makes Pride cry. He seems to see forgiveness as a weakness. I think he could learn a lot from Arthur because while Arthur is a very strong person, he isn’t afraid to show a softer side.
Arthur is a character I was expecting to see more of in these episodes. That could be the case in the coming episodes. He will be the one to accompany Pride into battle, and I feel like Pride and her mother wouldn’t be as on board with such a dangerous plan if they didn’t have Arthur to protect Pride.
I’m looking forward to this “war” arc because I think Pride might be hiding some combat skills from the rest of us. I have no evidence of this at all, just something that I think would be fun to see. If this were a male-led isekai, I imagine that would be a no-brainer. Male protagonists are always the best at everything they try to do. So I think it would be nice if we could get that from a female perspective as well.
The main thing I’m not enjoying about this season is that, for the most part, all of the romance has taken a backseat. Maybe we’ll get some more of that in the closing episodes of the season.
