English Dub Review: Petals Of Reincarnation “The Faceless Man”
Overview:
Petals of Reincarnation recently dropped its latest episode, “The Faceless Man.” The namesake character is Alan Smithee, who will make some revelations as the story plays out. However, this all leads to the conflict between two other characters.
Our Take:
Ein and Kitazuka are searching for rogue Returners, but Ein grows frustrated, feeling that they don’t have all the power they need. However, they do have one card to play. Many of Xiang Yu’s previous followers have joined their side, wanting to offer their aid if needed.
However, among them is a figure that left fans asking questions at the end of the last episode: Alan Smithee. Meanwhile, Touya and Jubei also encounter the figure, as does Nightingale within the Forest of the Greats. He claims to be the creator and distributor of the Branches of Reincarnation, confirming the existence of the Seed.
Appearing to restore Jubei’s memories, everyone soon loses their memories of the figure. Only Kitazuka maintains focus, who has to stab his own hand to maintain this. As the characters deal with these revelations, Jubei and Touya soon come across Haitou’s ruined dojo, learning that her father has long since died. Driven to despair, she seeks death, something that Jubei is willing to comply.
Once again, the episode ends on a cliffhanger, teasing the upcoming battle between Haitou and Jubei, all while the emotions run high. Meanwhile, many fans will still be left asking questions about Alan Smithee’s true nature. That said, overall, viewers will be left asking one question in particular: when will we see Alan Smithee again?
