English Dub Review: The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King “Discovery is the Mother of all Queftos; The Crimson Warrior of Glory”

OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)

Serafina receives her newly made Dwarven Crystal Helmet, just in time for a rematch with the Fire Dragon!

OUR TAKE

After a strange delay last week of the dub of the eleventh episode, we’re getting the last two of the season at once! Which is honestly good because I’m ready to be done with this show. We get some further exploration of Dwarven culture and metallurgy, including showing us a hanger where they made a giant mech of all things, but the main reason everyone’s there is to get Sera her new helmet which…honestly looks pretty ugly, if you ask me. Like with the last one, we get a glimpse inside since you can’t normally look through it, but whether it’s the animation quality or just a strange design, it’s really weird to look at. It is, however, made up of and powered by Sera’s willpower, something that the Dwarves can turn into energy as they do with a lot of their other weapons, so that’s something we’re kinda learning more about in this story’s world. And we’re just in time to see all of this in practice as that red Fire Dragon we saw before makes another appearance to give us a much more eventful season finale! And after that intense battle, we learn that this dragon is actually able to talk! Telepathically, but still.

I guess this is a pretty neat culmination of everything we’ve seen Sera experience. She’s spent all this season learning so many things about the land outside of her country, meeting new races and cultures and secrets about the land, all while trying to maintain her dignity as a knight. And with reclaiming a newer, more detailed helmet (even it looks weird), she has fully formed this new version of herself and even learned to talk with dragons, who before would just be another beast for the slaughter for her, if she could even survive an encounter. Speaking of, that black creature they fought and killed a few episodes ago is revealed to actually be a senile dragon who they were fine to kill, so that’s cool I guess. With that, and Kanagi the dwarf now coming to stay with them, Sera finally agrees to marry Veor, even if the road to get there has been kinda suspect from my perspective. But we can’t end the season without a hook for the next one, as we finally check back in with Sera’s kingdom and her brother being sent to finish the fight that she failed at. And I guess we’ll see if that ever gets picked up on if they ever get a second season!
