English Dub Review: Classroom of the Elite “For a Desired Future”

Overview:

While Amasawa delays Horikita, Ayanokoji arrives at the I2 area where a climactic showdown awaits.

Our Take(Spoilers):

Today is a day of confusion for me, I suppose. As I understand it, Amasawa doesn’t want Ayanokoji to get expelled, so why did she want to delay Horikita from helping him? I also thought that Fuka Kiryuin was a first-year, but she’s apparently a third-year? I don’t know why she would decide to help Ayanokoji, other than for the kicks. Maybe I haven’t been paying as much attention as I should, but it didn’t affect my enjoyment of the episode.

I joked about calling it a DragonBall episode because most of what we got was fighting. Horikita got some help from Ibuki against Amasawa, and Ayanokoji got help from Kiryuin to take on Tsukishiro and another teacher. If I’m being honest, if this show devolved into nothing but fighting, I could be down for that because the fights have been awesome in this show so far. But there was something that happened this episode that made the fights a little… less enjoyable.

For whatever reason, they decided to add sound effects during the fights. Remember watching old kung fu movies during the 80’s and every time someone moved, it got a wind sound effect? Yeah, they decided to do that in this episode, and with most of it being fighting, it was noticeable, and I didn’t enjoy it.

What I loved more than anything in this episode was the reveal of who was in the top three groups that finished the test. Koenji was all by himself, being harassed by a bunch of other groups, but guess who got first?! Did I just become a Koenji fan? You bet your ass I did! I figured he would do well, but the fact that he was the best was both hilarious and awesome at the same time.

In case you didn’t catch the announcement, there was a post-credits scene. In this scene, we learned that we’re getting a fifth season. It was something we already knew, but it was nice to get confirmation either way. I’m excited about how much this anime has taken off in recent years. When I first watched this show, it had only one season, and it was one of those shows that seemed like it wouldn’t ever get a follow-up. We’ve since been getting fairly consistent releases, and I hope we don’t have to wait long for the fifth season. We have Ichinose’s confession to deal with after all.
