English Dub Review: Snowball Earth “The Great Kaiju War”
Overview:
Aoi returns to the Mall on the defensive and takes on the enemy. Meanwhile, the Boss recounts Sagami’s past, and Aoi and the Land of Men battle the Kaiju.
Our Take:
This show has become top-tier for me. I really hope we get more than one season if there’s enough source material to adapt. Otherwise, I like this so much I might start reading the manga as well.
I’ve been rewatching Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure lately, and I can’t help but be reminded of it during these kaiju fights. When a kaiju is harmed, its bonded human feels pain similarly. Which wasn’t good for Aoi when Land of Men (what a name, huh?) had one of its wings almost severed. I love how nuanced all the characters have become. I’m glad the kaiju aren’t only a mindless enemy to fight.
What I’m most excited about is that Tetsuo has shown so much growth. I was worried when this show first started that he would be annoying. That no matter what, he would have a hard time talking with people. While he still shows some signs of being uncomfortable, I love that he has made huge strides in being able to interact with people. This is a show I don’t want to end.
