English Dub Review: Hell Mode: The Hardcore Gamer Dominates in Another World With Garbage Balancing “The Appraisal Ceremony”
Overview:
Little does Allen know that the Appraisal Ceremony will expose the brutal reality of playing on Hell Mode.
Our Take(Spoilers):
When it comes to the terminology used to describe social class, this show is confusing me. I can see how a serf is lower than a commoner, but I’ll be honest, I always felt like the two terms were somewhat interchangeable. What was a bit shocking was seeing how differently serfs and commoners live. Allen and his friends and family look almost homeless in their appearance. They’re basically wearing rags and look dirty and disheveled. Commoners look downright fancy, and if THIS is how commoners look, I can only imagine what the nobility look like.
I didn’t have especially high hopes for this show to begin with, but after getting our first fight scene, they might be at rock bottom. Everyone gets their talents revealed to see what they would be good at. Krena is so good with swords that she is dubbed a “sword lord,” which means she could skyrocket to nobility. Members of the knights want to test her to make sure her ranking is accurate, so a duel is suggested. The animation for the duel was awful, some of the worst I’ve seen in a while. Maybe it was more of a Krena thing, and that’s just how she fights, but that was awful.
