Record-Breaking ‘Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle’ Returns to North American Theaters This March
The King of Anime is returning to its throne. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment have announced that the cinematic phenomenon Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will return to theaters across the United States and Canada on March 6, 2026.
This limited engagement is more than just a re-release; it marks the North American debut of the film in ScreenX. This cutting-edge format utilizes a multi-projection system to expand the film across the side walls of the auditorium, providing a breathtaking 270-degree field of view that places the audience directly inside the gravity-defying corridors of the Infinity Castle.
A Historic Box Office Run
Since its original release in September 2025, Infinity Castle—the first entry in a planned theatrical trilogy—has completely redefined the potential of international cinema. The film shattered records to become the highest-grossing anime film of all time globally, surpassing the previous record-holder, Mugen Train.
In North America, it achieved a milestone once thought impossible: it surpassed the 25-year record held by Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon to become the highest-grossing international (non-English) film in domestic history.
Critical Acclaim and Award Recognition
Beyond its financial dominance, the film has bridged the gap between popular shonen action and prestige cinema. Infinity Castle has been recognized with several major industry nominations, including:
-
Golden Globe Awards: Nominated for Best Animated Feature Film.
-
Producers Guild of America (PGA): Nominated for Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures.
-
BAFTA Awards: Earned a spot on the prestigious longlist for Best Animated Film.
The Final Battle Begins
Directed by Haruo Sotozaki and animated by the world-class studio ufotable, the film picks up immediately following the Hashira Training Arc. After the demon king Muzan Kibutsuji’s surprise attack on the Ubuyashiki Mansion, Tanjiro and the Demon Slayer Corps are plunged into the depths of the Infinity Castle. This stronghold serves as the stage for the ultimate confrontation between the Hashira and the Upper Rank demons.
How to Watch
Tickets for the March 6 return go on sale today, February 20, 2026 and include the English dub.
Given that this ScreenX engagement is a special event, theaters are expected to sell out quickly as fans rush to experience ufotable’s “immaculate” animation in the most immersive format available before the eventual debut of the trilogy’s second part.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
