English Dub Review: A Misanthrope Teaches a Class for Demi-Humans “The Misanthrope and the Fleeting Crown of Bubbles”

Overview:

Rei learns why Kyoka wants to become a dancer. A mysterious yet familiar girl appears in the classroom.

Our Take:

I’m glad to learn that Rei isn’t attracted to his students, and who he is attracted to, I can’t blame him for. One of his fellow teachers, Yuki, gives him some cookies, and while he finds out she gave the cookies to everyone, it doesn’t stop him from getting attracted. Later, when his students ask about his ideal girl, he even describes Yuki down to the smallest detail. But the best part of the episode was what happened with Isaki.

Isaki is voiced by Veronica Laux, and the reason I want to bring that up is that Isaki is a pretty unique character. She’s a wolfgirl, and apparently, when there’s a full moon, she will change personalities essentially. What makes this fascinating to me is that Veronica has to play two characters in a way. I’m used to her from the show Shy, and the way Isaki normally is fits that voice perfectly. But when she’s more confident and aggressive, it brings out a different voice, and I’ve been very impressed with her. I wonder how this “transformation” will carry over into the next episode or the rest of the season.
