Review: Universal Basic Guys “Well Done”

Overview

Mark digs a well so he doesn’t have to pay the water bill; Tammy battles the water company bureaucracy.

Our Take

The irony of Mark battling the same system that’s supporting all of his financial needs is hilarious, but Universal Basic Guys flushes a pretty hilarious effort that comes back up and reminds everyone why basic sanitary services are a good thing that everyone should have access to. Also watching Hank get drunk on parasitic infections is one of the more disturbing ideas the series has ever done and I’m absolutely here for it.

Even with the silliness going on with the boys, Universal Basic Guys tackles an idea that is seldom seen in adult animation and one that I think we can all relate to…shitty customer service. Even more so when dealing with local utilities like electric, water, cable, etc., that seem to just want to do everything to screw you. Talia Genevieve’s take as Tammy is a perfect opponent for local bureaucracy because she gets as crazy as you’d expect and does what every mom of a boy/husband would do in that situation.

Overall, a very funny episode of Universal Basic Guys. The episode takes an odd left turn when we meet the cave dweller, but Tammy’s war with the utility company is so compelling and fresh that we get enough from this week’s episode to warrant a good wipe.
