English Dub Review: I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability “The Moon and Tonkatsu”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
As Babylon contends with an immortal, infinitely regenerating pig chimera, Sylpha struggles without a sword.
Our Take:
The holy showdown continues, with this week’s episode focusing on the supporting characters as they fight their respective battles. Last week’s episode saw Tao transform into a full-on Super Saiyan against the six-armed woman chimera, while Lloyd continued his struggle in the sky against the malicious pastor, whose name was finally revealed to be Guitane. For this episode, the show now focuses on another set of supporting characters battling through some of the pastor’s dangerous creatures. Unfortunately, those awaiting to see more of the showdown between Lloyd and Guitane would have to wait a while longer, as it only showed a smidge of the action unfolding in the sky.
Luckily, the episode still retains the show’s opportunity to showcase its supporting characters through both its action and humor. The episode’s first half sees Babylon and the other bishops confronting a pig chimera, whose anger fuels his regeneration ability due to people not liking the taste of his meat. However, thanks to Babylon’s cooking skills, the former assassin was able to soothe the savage porker by making its meat taste delicious. As someone who initially found the humor lacking, I was surprised to see that the jokes in this episode finally earned my chuckles through the goofiness, notably its fourth-wall-breaking gags, including the opening theme recreations and the monochrome color palette. Given that we’re nearing the end of the season, I’m somehow glad I was able to savor this humor before we return to the action at hand.
The second half isn’t something to write home about regarding the action-driven narrative. Still, the battle between Sylpha and Anastasia provided another rewarding moment, showcasing Sylpha’s skills, her connection with Lloyd, and some fan service. Although compared to Sylpha’s previous badass moments in earlier episodes, this one might be placed at the bottom of the list due to the lack of narrative stakes involving her fighting without her sword. Regardless, “The Moon and Tonkatsu” managed to find its footing regarding the show’s tone and goofy humor, even if we’re a couple of steps closer to the endgame.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
