FOX/20th Television’s “The Simpsons” , “Bob’s Burgers”, “Family Guy”, And “American Dad” Get Four Season Renewal

A monster renewal has been announced with FOX with pretty much all of the 20th Television Animation-produced series available on Animation Domination which includes The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, and American Dad with each getting 15-episode orders through 2028-2029 broadcast season. The shorter episode orders will allow FOX more room on it’s very busy lineup for the network’s original animated series like Grimsburg, Krapopolis, and Universal Basic Guys and also doesn’t preclude Disney to produce Hulu and Disney+-exclusive originals like they’ve been doing in the past with The Simpsons and Family Guy. 

Not mentioned, The Great North which is in the midst of debuting season five episodes and whether or not that show may stay on FOX (unlikely) or could Hulu save the series as an exclusive moving forward. Of all the series, FOX’s main trio of The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, and Family Guy are not only overnight ratings hits for the FOX Network but among some of the most syndicated series in both television and streaming, the latter of which we noted is some of the most streamed properties in the world.

The Simpsons

The longest-running primetime scripted show in television history, The Simpsons exploded into a cultural phenomenon in 1990 and has remained one of the most groundbreaking and innovative entertainment franchises, recognizable throughout the world. The Emmy Award-, Annie Award- and Peabody Award-winning animated comedy has won 37Emmy Awards and will begin its 36th season this fall.

In The Simpsons Season 36 premiere, Bart celebrates the most shocking birthday party of his entire life — one that might just change everyone in Springfield forever.  Season 36 also brings two terrifying Halloween episodes! In “Treehouse of Horror XXXV,” giant monsters created by political rage threaten to tear the town apart, a Victorian Mr. Burns is jump-scared on Thanksgiving by the ghosts of his abused workers, and Homer bonds with a pair of extra-terrestrial jeans in an unforgettable stop-motion adventure that can only be called… Denim.  In the bonus fright-fest, “Treehouse of Horror Presents: Simpsons Wicked This Way Comes,”a tattooed man at a mysterious night circus transports Lisa into three strange stories from the innocent 1950s, the chilling retro-present, and a brutalist future where prestige TV rules the world.

The Simpsons Season 36 is exploding with amazing stories!  Grampa reveals his secret past as a 1980s-era private detective, The Simpsons encounter death on vacation at a high-end resort in “Yellow Lotus,” and Lisa has a blazing misadventure in the dark world of Capital City’s downtown art scene.  Guest stars announced so far for this season include Conan O’Brien, John Cena, Joel McHale, Danny DeVito, and Tom Hanks.

The Simpsons is a Gracie Films Production in association with 20th Television. James L. Brooks, Matt Groening, Matt Selman, and Al Jean are the executive producers. The Gracie Films Worldwide Brand Division develops and produces the licensed content for the series.

Family Guy

Entering its 22^nd season, Family Guy continues to entertain its die-hard fan base with razor-sharp humor, spot-on parodies, spectacular animation and orchestra-backed original music. Since its debut in 1999, the series has reached cult status among fans, and its breakout star, a talking baby, has become one of the greatest TV characters of all time. Family Guy has racked up numerous awards, including an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series, only the second animated series in television history to be honored with such a distinction. Most recently, series creator and lead voice actor Seth MacFarlane (voices of “Peter Griffin,” “Stewie Griffin,” “Brian Griffin” and “Glenn Quagmire”) was nominated for the 2021 Emmy Award for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance and won the 2019 Emmy Award for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance. Cast member Alex Borstein (voice of “Lois Griffin”) won the 2018 Emmy Award in the category. MacFarlane also was nominated that year. He won the 2017 and 2016 Emmy Award in the category, and was nominated from 2013 to 2015.

Season 22 will continue to provide a humorous take on current events and will see Peter getting a job at the Stop n’ Shop and taking a vacation to Florida with Lois. Additionally, Stewie and Brian help each other get over their mutual fear of showers and compete for sales against Bruce at the flea market. Also this season, Meg agrees to be Bruce and Jeffery’s surrogate and Lois joins Chris’s school as a substitute teacher.

Family Guy is a 20th Television Animation production. Seth MacFarlane is creator and executive producer. Rich Appel and Alec Sulkin serve as executive producers and showrunners, while Steve Callaghan, Tom Devanney, Danny Smith, Kara Vallow, Mark Hentemann, Patrick Meighan and Alex Carter are executive producers.

Bob’s Burgers

Emmy Award-winning Bob’s Burgers returns for its 15th season. The series centers on the working-class Belcher family — parents Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) and Linda (John Roberts) and their three children, Tina (Dan Mintz), Gene (Eugene Mirman), and Louise (Kristen Schaal) — who run a seaside New Jersey hamburger restaurant and their adventures interacting with the eccentric members of their community. This season, Bob must face his fears and join Louise in a father-daughter boogie boarding competition; Tina becomes the columnist for the anonymous “Ask an Eighth Grader” advice column; and when the Belchers’ landlord, Mr. Fischoeder, offers them two months free rent in exchange for catering an important reception at his house, the family must do everything they can to ensure the event goes perfectly.

Bob’s Burgers is produced by 20th Television Animation. The series was created and is executive-produced by Loren Bouchard. Nora Smith, Dan Fybel, Rich Rinaldi, Greg Thompson, Jon Schroeder, Steven Davis, Scott Jacobson, Holly Schlesinger, Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin also serve as executive producers. The series was co-developed by Jim Dauterive.
