English Dub Review: Shy “I’m Shy”
Overview:
The world is at peace, but there are still everyday dangers. So, a new breed of protectors, known simply as “Heroes” have arrived on Earth. Shy is Japan’s new Hero, but is she ready to be a Hero? What does it MEAN to be a Hero anyway?
Our Take:
The first thing I love about this anime is that it gives me hope that even I could be a superhero. Shy’s crippling social anxiety and shyness are essentially her superpowers, and I got plenty of that to go around! I’m kidding, I’m not entirely sure where her or the other hero’s powers come from yet but I think she has more going for her than that. She has a jet thruster on her back that helps with things but she can seemingly fly without it and based on how many people she could carry at a time I think she might have a bit of super strength.
If your main character’s main trait is being shy then the voice actress you choose to play them better sound shy. Veronica Laux is the VA that was cast and so far I would say we have a great talent on our hands. I checked her credits because she sounded really familiar to me but I couldn’t find anything I recalled her doing. What I do know is that she gets a thumbs-up from me for the first episode.
I love superhero shows and this one looks to be an interesting take on it. With Shy meeting other superheroes in the next episode, it looks like we might get some questions answered sooner rather than later.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
