English Dub Review: The Duke of Death and His Maid “The Duke, Alice, and the Spectral Bride”

Overview:

The Duke and Alice receive two visitors: a ghost, and a woman who says she can break the curse.

Our Take:

This anime is so sweet for something that has some of the most dark and gothic vibes. Alica can see ghosts, one of them being a spectral bride who wants to see her lover again. I’m telling you the characters in this are just so sweet. It’s really refreshing to see a couple who are honest with each other and there is no way that either of them doesn’t know how the other feels. Maybe their social standing will create some issues on whether they will be together, but at the very least there is no dumb and dense protagonist to worry about.

The second half of the episode dealt with a witch who was an octopus. It was interesting because she was very open to helping the Duke with his curse problem, whether he helped out Daleth or not. She was still unable to help but we are getting closer I think and now the Duke might have another ally. She was apparently married to a sailor that saved her long ago, have I mentioned how sweet this series is?
