English Dub Review: My Tiny Senpai “When It Comes to Him, I’m Not Sure Yet…”
Overview:
Akina finds out what Hayakawa’s hobby is and Katase reveals how she feels about her co-workers.
Our Take:
Hayakawa is attending a cosplay event, but she’s worried someone might find out about her hobby. Coincidentally enough, she runs into her boss, Akina, while she’s still in costume. She’s worried that he’ll make fun of her hobby. Instead, he actually compliments her on it and he even wants to photograph her in costume.
It’s Halloween in the last segment, so Shinozaki and Katase treat themselves to some candy. Katase accidentally eats an alcoholic chocolate, which immediately gets her drunk. This results in her repeatedly kissing Hayakawa and thanking Akina for his hard work. She also tells Shinozaki how she feels about him. Well, as a kouhai anyway. Her other feelings are up in the air right now.
I’ve said multiple times that I wanted to see more of Akina and Hayakawa. I’m glad that they take the forefront in this episode. Shinozaki and Katase are present for a good portion of the episode too, but they’re not the main focus for a majority of it. It’s nice to see more of Akina’s and Hayakawa’s relationship. We’ve seen hints that Hayakawa has feelings for her boss and she’s not sure how he feels about her. He asks her out to dinner, which ends up being a slight misunderstanding. That’s when he asks her if he can take pictures of her in cosplay.
Katase’s feelings for Shinozaki are obviously complicated as well. At least, that’s what she tells Akina when he asks her in her inebriated state. Naturally, they both deny there being any romantic feelings between them. Of course, now we know for sure that there actually might be something there.
This episode is pretty funny. It has a lot of great rom-com tropes like misunderstanding and drunken confessions. However, the delivery of these tropes and gags is on point. I like seeing different characters in the spotlight for a little while. I also like seeing the show explore different avenues of their relationships.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
