English Dub Review: My Clueless First Friend “10 Years Later, the Same as Today”

Overview:

Takada has to diffuse a bomb and we also see how he seems himself in 10 years.

Our Take:

Kitagawa and his friends accidentally put a cockroach bomb in Nishimura’s cubby. They ask Takada to retrieve it before it goes off and releases cockroaches into the classroom. This doesn’t exactly go as planned, but at least Nishimura is fine.

The class gets an assignment to draw where they see themselves in 10 years. Everyone has some interesting ideas, but Nishimura can’t think of what to draw. Takada draws himself after gaining the curse’s full power and he draws Nishimura next to him. She asks why she’s in his picture and he says it’s because he wants her to be by his side forever.

There are more wholesome moments between the two, like when Takada compliments the scent of Nishimura’s new shampoo. Plus, Nishimura texts Takada for the first time and he gets very excited. His sister tells him he should brag about getting a message to everyone and he does exactly that. It’s great seeing how something so seemingly small can have such a big impact on someone’s day. There’s also a little post-credit that may count as a confession, but that’s up to interpretation.

This is the finale, but it doesn’t have an actual conclusion. I think that’s perfectly fine for a show like this, especially because I would love to see more in the future. An open-ended finale like this would lead well into another season. Even if that doesn’t happen, I still think this is a great way to end this series.

My Clueless First Friend has been sweet and wholesome since the first episode, so i can’t think of a better to leave off than still being sweet and wholesome. I’ll admit that it would be nice if we got some continuation from the Christmas party. That being said, I never get tired of seeing the everyday interactions between Takada and Nishimura.
