English Dub Review: Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury “Envoys from the Earth”

Overview:

It has been two weeks since the attack on Plant Quetta. At first glance, it seems daily life at the school has remained peaceful, but a gag order has been imposed regarding the incident, and the members of Earth House feel suffocated. As preparations get underway for the next day’s Open Campus event, a pair of transfer students appear before Suletta.

Our Take:

Don’t get me wrong I am very happy that we went right into dubbing the second cour but I have to admit I’m a little disappointed by the episode itself. There are just too many leaps of logic to be made and none of the fallout from the previous episode is really addressed. Suletta doesn’t recognize that the two new students from Earth are also the people who fought her in Gundams during the Plant Quetta incident. Nika is the only one that seems to recognize them and she’s trying her best to get rid of them.

Suletta and Miorine haven’t really talked it seems like and that was one of the things I was looking forward to most after the last episode. It seems like this might be a series of waves, at first we were in the school setting with mobile suits then it became more realistic and gritty. Not it’s almost like it’s back to the school setting, there’s even a festival happening! I’m still excited this was just more of a stumble out of the gate than I was expecting.
