English Dub Review: My Clueless First Friend “Lunch Duty and Ghost Photographs and Love Letters”
Overview:
Takada and Nishimura serve lunch, try to find ghosts in pictures, and do more fun activities together.
Our Take:
This episode basically comprises of a bunch of shorts that show Takada and Nishimura doing various activities. These range from the two serving lunch to Hino and Nishimura visiting Takada when he’s sick to Takada just telling Nishimura everything he likes about her. They’re all funny and very sweet. Of course, all of the other students are still teasing Nishimura for no reason, but Takada still doesn’t care. He’s still oblivious to the situation, but it’s refreshing seeing an anime character just shrugging bullies off without intentionally retaliating. He just seriously doesn’t understand what everyone else is trying to say about Nishimura.
Thankfully, not everybody is mean to Nishimura. I was curious if Hino would be cool with her since he didn’t tease her in the last episode. It turns out he is, which is great. I don’t know if he’s necessarily friends with Nishimura, but he does hang out with her since Takada is a mutual friend. He’s a pretty simple character who’s mainly only interested in the occult and tank tops. Regardless, it’s nice to see other people being nice to Nishimura.
I can say the same thing about Taiyo’s sister: Yukiko Takada. She immediately becomes friendly with Nishimura. Yukiko finds her adorable and she even gives her some of her old clothes so she can spruce up her wardrobe. I like Yukiko a lot. She’s fun and she’s just as nice to Nishimura as her brother is. I’m really hoping to see more of Yukiko in future episodes.
This is a fun episode overall. I like this format of short plots instead of one throughout the whole episode. I think it fits a show of this nature and it changes things up a bit. I’m looking forward to seeing more wholesome moments between Takada and Nishimura and seeing Nishimura come out of her shell little by little.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
