Insight: Netflix Prod Deal With Red Dog Culture House Helps Streamer To Stay Focused On Gaming Demo
It’s all going according to plan for Netflix. After winning “Best Gaming Adaptation” at the recent Game Awards for Arcane, the streamer has continued on the path of gaming adaptations and appears to be doing that for a longtime with a new deal inked with Red Dog Culture House, producers of Dragon Age: Absolution, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, and a few others.
This comes as Netflix has had another banner year with adult animation focused for gaming audiences who use gaming consoles to access their Netflix subscription. Examples like DOTA, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and more coming down the pike show that Netflix is going to continue shepherding this audience, and doing so with solid adaptations that aren’t just random CG sequences sewn together, but rather, actual adult animation series that have depth. I’m not sure Arcane is the best example of the latter, but there’s no denying the visual fetes that the franchise has achieved that has still yet to be matched in terms of total awesomeness.
Other gaming companies like Unreal know this and are leveraging their engine for original animated productions that could potentially be sold to streamers like Prime Video (having success with their own gaming adaptations like Legend of Vox Machina), Netflix, and even someone like Warhammer+ who has shown that THEY can produce quality animated adaptations of gaming. Animated comedies still get a lot of the mainstream award accolades, but it’s the gaming adaptations that are causing the most commotion right now.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
