English Dub Review: Don’t Hurt Me, My Healer! “We’ve reached the final episode at last…”

Overview:

The party faces off with the evil mage: Dorman.

Our Take:

Alvin, Carla, and everyone else enters the dwarfs’ village. The villagers have all been captured by Brigan and the rest of Dorman’s henchmen. Carla, Alvin, and Ryoko enter his lair and they manage to get the artifact. Alvin tries to use it, but it’s powerless at the moment. Carla gets captured and everyone else retreats.

Alvin talks to the artifact and in order to get to full power, Carla needs to cast a spell on it. They all go back to the lair, rescue Carla, and she cats a spell on the crown. They then battle Dorman’s army. Altargaia gets reinforcements, such as everybody Alvin and Carla have encountered in the forest. After this battle, Carla assists Alvin in his battle against Dorman. Alvin defeats Dorman, returns the artifact, and goes back to his adventure with his party.

One notable event that occurs in the episode is Alvin and Carla are more than 300 meters apart. At first, Alvin believes the artifact broke the curse. Later, when he talks to the artifact about it in front of Carla, it’s heavily implied that Carla never cursed Alvin in the first place. I’m mixed on this because of Carla’s attitude towards Alvin. If she was more up front with her feelings about him, I would like this more.

I was bored for the first half of this episode, but the second half is alright. It was nice seeing the other characters return for this final battle. Specifically, the ones that I like such as the thief for example. However, the plot with the dwarfs felt unnecessary. This episode could have happened anywhere else and it wouldn’t have made a difference. Carla casting an “enhancement spell” on Dorman to actually help Alvin for one was a nice touch, but the final battle in general was mediocre. As a whole, this is an average finale.
