Star Trek: Lower Decks Season Two Premiere Set To Air On Comedy Central

Star Trek: Lower Decks officially kicked off the show’s second season last week for Paramount+, but for those that do not subscribe to the streaming service here in the United States, ViacomCBS has you covered. That’s because they plan on airing the season two premiere of Star Trek: Lower Decks this Friday night @ 12:30 am ET/PT, check your local listings. The name of the episode is called “Strange Energies” and you can read our review of it here.

While we are well on our way through Star Trek: Lower Deck’s second season of ten episodes, Paramount+ has already ordered a third season of ten new episodes to go along with an overall deal that creator/producer Mike McMahan inked earlier this year. The show’s second season was written and produced remotely thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Star Trek: Lower Decks follows the support crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos in the year 2380. Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noël Wells, and Eugene Cordero voice “lower decks” crew members of the Cerritos, with Dawnn Lewis, Jerry O’Connell, and Gillian Vigman also providing voices for the season with Paul F. Tompkins and Phil LaMarr set to return as Migleemo and Mariner’s father, respectively, after being introduced in the first season.

Other exciting developments we can expect in the upcoming second season includes the return of Star Trek actors like Jonathan Frakes as “William Riker”, plus Robert Duncan McNeill and Jeffrey Combs are also slated to cameo. Plus, expect additional character arcs this go-round to go along with the stand-alone episodes with premises that include Sam Rutherford’s memory issues, Mariner working with her mother Captain Freeman, the Pakleds being a threat to Starfleet, and Tendi being worried about her friends not remembering her. Plus, Mariner is expected to truly delve into her bisexuality this upcoming season.
