Review: Spongebob Squarepants: “Under the Small Top; Squidward’s Sick Daze”
Overview
“Under the Small Top”
A chaotic mail mishap ensues when a package that was meant for Spongebob is accidentally sent to Squidward’s house…
“Squidward’s Sick Daze”
Squidward fakes being sick to get out of work but his agony only begins when Spongebob arrives to care for him.
Our Take
The mailing industry has done its share of making mistakes. While the premise is an excellent setup, the former episode, did give me a good laugh. Given that Squidward is a shitty neighbor to Spongebob what happens to him this time is clearly on him for whatever actions he’s made but It feels like it could’ve been a shorter episode if Squidward wasn’t an ass and actually gave the package to him.
“Squidward’s Sick Daze” feels like a similar setup to the Ren & Stimpy Classic “Nurse Stimpy”. The only difference is, Ren never pretended to be sick in that episode and you’d think given the overwhelming nature of his shitty restaurant job, Squidward would have vacation days/hours, but instead, Mr. Krabs can easily see through the bullshit.
Overall both passable episodes that further emphasize the shittiness of Squidward as a character. I can understand being annoyed by Spongebob from time to time but the shit he does that keeps compelling Spongebob to come to him feels appropriately karmic yet comedically satisfying.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
