FOX Developing An Animated Comedy Inspired By X-Files
For years, X-Files used to be the show that would cap off Sunday Nights for FOX that would typically start with The Simpsons which apparently caused some sort of cross-breeding scenario that gives way for a new animated comedy now in development called X-Files: Albuquerque.
The series comes from longtime Brickleberry/Paradise PD writers Rocky Russo and Jeremy Sosenko that’s essentially a workplace comedy featuring the back-up team to the real agents who have to handle cases that just aren’t worth the effort for Mulder and Scully. 20th Television and FOX Entertainment are tag-teaming the development of this endeavor with Bento Box expected to produce. There to EP will be the deities Chris Carter and Gabe Rotter. As of now, original show stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are not expected to reprise their roles as “Mulder” and “Scully”.
A script and presentation have been ordered by FOX.

Our Take
Writers from Brickleberry working on a sci-fi animated comedy has so much potential here. Here’s hoping this will eventually add to FOX’s already packed list of orders for new series coming down the pike to go along with established franchises like Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
