Netflix Insight: Original Animation Investment Pays Dividends During Awards Season And Beyond
Earlier this week, Trioscope Entertainment officially launched. The new studio is set to create groundbreaking visual experiences that meld live-action and animation the likes of which we really haven’t seen before. We will see this when the Netflix original The Liberator, the four-episode WW2 action drama series being directed by company CCO Greg Jonkajtys that stars Bradley James and Martin Sensmeier. And while we wait for the premiere date of that series, Netflix is cleaning up like crazy with original animation during the 2020 Awards season.
The content is popular, but more importantly, highly touted. If you need proof, look no further than the 2020 Annie Awards. The likes of which BoJack Horseman, Tuca & Bertie, I Lost My Body, Love, Death, + Robots, and a slew of other franchises either won or were nominated. Content from the world over is also being curated by Netflix and English dubbed for native speaking audiences i.e. the recent announcement that Netflix is teaming up with WIT Studios (the producers of Attack on Titan) for a new series called Great Pretender that sees a Tokyo street scammer joining an international confidence team to hit his mark.
Suffice to say, Netflix appears to have a strong future ahead for original animation. Who knows which award show they’ll sweep next.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
