Review: Hot Streets “The Bractegon”

No, it isn’t a new UFC cage, though that would be legit.

Overview (Spoilers Below)

“The Bractegon”

Toilet Bowl monsters are terrorizing the sewers of Hot Streets. When Branski and French go to investigate, the duo is captured. They try to call Jen for help but she’s busy. Fortunately, they kill a bunch of the monsters.

Meanwhile, Jen discovers the Bractegon and with the help of Peeny Squeezy, she discovers that this shape is some sort of symbol for a secret cult. Jen and her new friends head through a maze only to discover a key that leads to some dude that got stuck here a long time ago. Jen unfreezes this guy and he takes her to a globe puzzle that could potentially kill billions.

Branksi and French stumble back into the picture and try warning all not to solve the globe puzzle, instead, it cracks open and Branski gets the full puzzle energy. Fortunately, he gives it back to Bonnington and saves the world. Squeezy comes back and now Chubbie has a new friend?

Our Take

Hot Streets is starting to find its groove when it comes to the dual plots. It’s almost tropish now that the boys get in trouble, Jen is the focus of the overall premise, and then the agents return in the nick of time to save the day. I’m getting super impressed with the number of new characters we introduce each week. Peeny is going to get the ink, but I had a ball with the sewer monsters, especially the Fonzie-looking leader, he might find himself in Mr. Poopybutthole conversations sooner rather than later.

Finding an underground cult, a lot of animated shows have done this a dozen times over, and we’ve seen a bunch of the Tomb Raider-like puzzles as well. Even the scene where Branski trips out we’ve seen possibly better examples of in this series, but admittedly all the variety of colors in such a brief amount of time was rather impressive.

Just as impressive, Justin Roiland is becoming a more well-versed voice actor as a result of Hot Streets. Like, tonight, he had to voice what sounded like almost a more adult take on Morty’s voice with, together with Chubbie and a few other characters, and as such he’s almost the vocal backbone of the series, even more so than on Rick and Morty.

8/10
