Reviews: Shadowstone Park Episodes 1-3
Jeez, what the hell is Cartoon Hangover doin’?
From Jason Steele (Llamas with Hats/Charlie the Unicorn) comes a new animated series about a cat who travels by pelican to solve supposed murders that happen in and around Shadowstone Park. The park itself is rife with the spirits of ghost and zombie animals, the former of which usually come back to life to let the cat, who is humorously unable to walk on all fours, know about its death. There usually isn’t any resolution to these murders, but we get a run of funny dialogue and silly antics that should keep you entertained.
The drawback of the series is that it’s as mixed up as its channel in terms of delivery. Whereas Mondo and Funimation clearly give a direction in terms of intended audiences for their programming, Cartoon Hangover doesn’t. Instead, it’s a weird hodgepodge mix of TV-PG programming like Bravest Warriors and TV-14 programming like this where it’s on the edge but doesn’t cross any dangerous lines that you would see on a streaming series. I get a sense that the producers of Shadowstone Park want to go crazier but they don’t just yet and that’s got Fred Seibert’s lack of direction on CH written all over it.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
