#9 OF THE 10 BEST ANIMATED SERIES ON TELEVISION IN 2012…SO FAR

We are at the halfway point of our fair television viewing year and as such we thought it’d be bad ass to do a list of the highest scoring animated series of 2012…so far. After the jump, see who made the list with contributions made by all of our writers. Now to see who is number 9 on the best animated series in the first half of 2012…

#9

Unsupervised is not only #9 on our list of best animated shows in 2012 so far, but it is also the best new show of 2012 again…so far. When it first came about it was marketed as a cross between Its Always Sunny and Superbad.  And while there are some similarities between all three properties, I do feel Unsupervised is kind of its own deal. Brought to you by the same guys who launched Its Always Sunny, the show stars Justin Long as Gary and exec producer David Hornsby as Joel as they traverse through the wretched halls of puberty. Along the way they are joined by a crazy cast of characters like Megan(Kristen Bell), Darius (Romany Malco), and Russ(Rob Rosell) all of whom come from different walks of life and yet being all under the same roof.

Season 1 didn’t exactly kill it in the ratings after the more popular Archer which was probably to be expected going up against trash like Jersey Shore. Having said that,  Unsupervised gets the nod for the list because the characters work really well together with superb art direction coming from Floyd Productions (Archer) and featuring a slew of guest stars most notably the entire Its Always Sunny cast. Does the show have the staying power to stay on our list and more importantly with new animated series on the way like Brickleberry, Black Dynamite, and the already airing Gravity Falls does it stay the best new animated series of the year? We can cross that bridge when we get there, for the time being if you haven’t check out Unsupervised yet you are sorely missing out!
