English Dub Review: The 100 Girlfriends Who Really Really Really Really Really Love You. “The 17 Girlfriends Who I Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love (83 to Go)”
Overview
Rentarō has decided to confront Shizuka’s emotionally abusive mother. Will he be able to change her ways?
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, 100 Girlfriends reaches its third-season finale with a surprisingly heartfelt conclusion centered around Shizuka. Rentarō continues to support her through a difficult situation, leading to some genuinely touching moments between her and her mother. While this storyline moves quicker than I expected, I thought it provided a satisfying emotional conclusion and gave Shizuka some meaningful development.
The rest of the proceedings return to the series’ usual chaotic antics, with Rentarō going above and beyond for all of his girlfriends. There are plenty of fun moments throughout, including some great character interactions, plenty of fanservice, and another hilarious appearance from Kusuri’s adult form. The conversation with the Love God was also a highlight, especially with the usual fourth-wall-breaking humor. It all builds toward a suitably ridiculous and wholesome way to close out the season.
Overall, the third season was another fun and entertaining ride, even if I felt the pacing was a little too fast at times. With so many girlfriends now in the cast, it’s becoming harder to give everyone the attention they deserve, and I wouldn’t have minded having more time with some of the existing characters. Still, the series continues to balance its absurd comedy with genuine heart, and Rentarō’s dedication to his girlfriends remains one of its biggest strengths. Here’s hoping we get a Season 4 announcement soon!
