English Dub Review: Ranma ½ “The Breaking Point”
Overview
Akane tags along for Ranma’s training, while Ryoga works to master the deadly “Breaking Point” technique. How will their clash unfold when Akane gets involved?
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, Ranma ½ brings Ranma and Ryoga’s ongoing rivalry to a new level as both martial artists push themselves through some hilariously brutal training. With Akane caught in the middle and their latest confrontation raising the stakes, the two rivals are determined to prove who truly deserves to come out on top. Their competitive relationship continues to deliver plenty of comedy, especially when their ridiculous training methods come into play.
Overall, this episode is a fantastic showcase of MAPPA’s animation, featuring impressive character drawings, fluid fight choreography, and plenty of spectacular action. While some repeated animation and still frames might be noticeable, the overall presentation makes the showdown an absolute treat to watch. The blend of over-the-top martial arts techniques and classic slapstick humor captures everything that makes the show so entertaining, with Cologne adding her own mischievous touch to the proceedings.
Overall, this is an incredibly fun episode that balances intense action with the series’ signature absurdity and character-driven comedy. Ranma and Ryoga’s rivalry remains as entertaining as ever, while Akane’s involvement adds another amusing layer to their antics. With such impressive animation and plenty of laughs throughout, this installment leaves me eager to see what other surprises the remake has in store.
