English Dub Review: Arkanaut “Cursed Skies”
The first episode of Arkanaut, titled Cursed Skies, is a promising start to the fantasy adventure set in the Warhammer: Age of Sigmar universe. The episode focuses on Captain Orra Ironhelm and her crew as they travel through the dangerous skies of Aqshy in search of a valuable resource. There is quite a bit happening, but the episode introduces the main story and gives viewers a good idea of what lies ahead.
The best part of the episode is the crew’s unexpected discovery in the Cursed Skies. The Therodoson is searching for a new seam of aether-gold, which could help the crew overcome its financial difficulties. However, their journey takes an unexpected turn when they discover a trapped Stormcast Eternal soul. This changes the nature of their expedition, as the crew must now protect its valuable prize from outside threats.
Another interesting aspect of the episode is the introduction of the Therodoson and its crew. The ship has seen better days and is long overdue for repairs. The crew also faces an attack from the Skaven, adding to the challenges they must overcome. These events make the journey more dangerous and leave the crew with more to worry about than finding aether-gold.
Overall, Cursed Skies is an enjoyable opening instalment that introduces an interesting premise and leaves viewers curious about what happens next. The 3D animation brings the Kharadron Overlords and their skyship to life, offering viewers a different perspective on the Age of Sigmar universe. The combination of fantasy, technology, and aerial combat makes the story even more engaging.
The Stormcast soul adds intrigue to the story, while the crew’s financial struggles give them a clear reason to take risks. The episode could have explored its characters a little more, but the unexpected discovery makes for an interesting start.
