‘Ted: The Animated Series’ Sets December Premiere on Peacock as Original Film Cast Reunites
Seth MacFarlane’s foul-mouthed, pot-smoking teddy bear is making the jump to animation. Following the success of the live-action prequel series, Universal Studio Group, Fuzzy Door, and MRC are expanding the franchise with TED: The Animated Series, a direct sequel to the 2012 and 2015 feature films.
The 8-episode first season premieres on Thursday, December 17, exclusively on Peacock, with additional episodes slated to stream in 2027.
Twelve Years Later: Thunder-Buddies with Families
While the live-action television series explored John and Ted’s high school years in the 1990s, TED: The Animated Series jumps forward in the timeline, picking up twelve years after the events of Ted 2.
Now living as neighbors, John Bennett and his magical teddy bear find themselves stuck in dead-end jobs while trying to navigate the messy realities of adult life, marriage, and parenthood—consistently enabling each other’s worst impulses along the way.
The series brings back the entire core feature film cast to voice their original roles:
-
Seth MacFarlane as Ted
-
Mark Wahlberg as John
-
Amanda Seyfried as Sam
-
Jessica Barth as Tami-Lynn
Joining the original lineup are Kyle Mooney (Saturday Night Live) as Apollo and Liz Richman as Ruth in series regular roles.
The Team Behind the Magic
The animated sequel reunites MacFarlane with executive producers Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh (TED live-action series), who step in as co-showrunners.
Animation production is handled by Rough Draft Studios, Inc. (Futurama, Disenchantment), bringing a classic hand-drawn aesthetic to MacFarlane’s signature brand of rapid-fire, pop-culture-heavy satire. Executive producers on the project also include Erica Huggins, Alana Kleiman, Jason Clark, Aimee Carlson, and Claudia Katz.
