English Dub Review: The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten “The Angel’s Request”
Overview
Amane’s parents visit the school festival and Itsuki explains why his father is unwilling to accept Chitose.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, the latest installment brings the school festival to a close with Amane’s parents visiting and naturally becoming involved with everyone. Shihoko continues to be a highlight, especially with how easily she connects with Mahiru and the rest of the group. Meanwhile, Itsuki’s relationship with his father receives some much-needed attention, adding a more serious element to the otherwise lighthearted festival.
The rest of the proceedings still delivers plenty of the usual wholesome moments between Amane and Mahiru, with Mahiru showing her increasingly affectionate side. The festival also wraps up with a fun karaoke-themed ending sequence that gives the episode a nice change of pace. While the pacing remains fairly relaxed, there are enough character moments and relationship development to keep things moving forward.
Overall, this was a pleasant way to wrap up the cultural festival, with Amane’s parents once again proving to be some of the most enjoyable characters whenever they appear. The episode balances its lighter romantic moments with some worthwhile development for Itsuki and his family, while the ending leaves plenty to look forward to next week. It may not be the most eventful episode, but it sets the stage for what could be a particularly interesting follow-up.
