English Dub Review: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime “Turbulence in the West”
Overview
An army of demons advances from the north, leaving the Western Nations in turmoil.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, several storylines continue to unfold as Diablo and Guy discuss Rimuru’s growing power, while Testarossa takes charge during the crisis surrounding the Council. Her confidence and composure make her a standout, and Diablo’s constant praise of Rimuru provides some hilarious moments as Guy begins to realize just how powerful Rimuru has become. The rest of the proceedings also does a good job balancing these lighter interactions with the increasingly serious situation.
Meanwhile, Rimuru finds himself caught up in another scheme, leading to an unexpected confrontation with Leon. However, there’s more to the situation than initially appears, with the two quickly realizing that something bigger is going on behind the scenes. The episode also continues Yuuki’s subplot, adding another layer of mystery as the various plans begin moving forward.
Overall, this was a strong episode that finally brought some genuine tension while giving Testarossa plenty of time to shine. The animation, visuals, and soundtrack complemented the more serious moments nicely, while the character interactions kept things entertaining. With several mysteries still unresolved, the episode leaves plenty to look forward to without giving away what comes next.
