English Dub Review: Grow Up Show: Sunflower Circus “This Is What I Always Wanted”
Overview:
With the Sumeragi Group’s elite troupe, the “Blue Rose Circus,” nearby, the “Sunflower Circus” faces a predictably poor turnout for its next performance. Mizuka, having resolves to take the stage as a performer, nervously peeks out at the audience. After confiding her anxiety to Ouka in the wings, she trusts Ouka’s advice—”look at the audience before you fly”—and Mizuka steps onto the trapeze.
Our Take(Spoilers):
This might have been the most productive episode so far. A lot happened which means there’s a lot to talk about so let’s get into it. The only problem I’m gonna have is which part of the episode to tackle first. I think I’ll go with the most minor thing that has prompted a theory of mine.
You might remember that I have this feeling that Svetlana and Shizuku are a couple. Well I feel like that is almost 100% confirmed in this episode. When the circus does well and everyone wants to celebrate, Shizuku says “I have to go tell honey” and I don’t think she would say that for no reason. I’m not saying that you can’t call a friend honey but it’s a little more rare. That’s why I haven’t commited to saying it’s 100% confirmed okay!
Next was something that was slightly surprising and admittedly a bit confusing as well. Nanami Sumeragi is a character we’ve had some interaction with up to this point. She’s been trying to recruit Ouka to her circus which I thought was the Lavender Circus but her circus is the Blue Rose. That was the confusing part, the surprising part was the fact that she’s not only an owner of the circus but a performer as well. Not only that but the move she pulled off was the move that Mizuka’s father was known for. I think there’s more to this character than we’ve been led to believe.
The finaly thing to talk about is the cliffhanger this episode ends on. During the celebration Mizuka heads out to look for Maria. She finds Maria at the bottom of the stairs in a scene that I thought was going to be funny. It was anything but funny because Maria had passed out or something and there was a locket nearby and we could tell that she had been crying. I have no idea what could have caused this because there was no signs pointing to anything bad at all in this episode. It would be sad if Mizuka finally finds happiness in the circus only for something like this to happen.
